Lim Tse Pin is the arbiter and pairing handler. He has bring up Chess Association of Selangor and contribute a lot to chess development in Malaysia. I manage to discuss/spoke to Mr. Lim Tse Pin(who was once my chess teammate!) on development of chess, organising chess events and etc. His enthusiasm towards chess and his contributions is enormous. However, his decision to quit involving in Merdeka chess tournament next year means a hugh lost to Malaysia chess. Let's hope he change his mind... Half way thru 1st round two very, very important person turns up - Dato Tan Chin Nam who is named the father of Malaysia Chess(I fully agreed!) and Dato Sieh Kok Chi the secretary general of Olympaid Council Malaysia pay a visit to this tournament! I feel so happy to see them!
Dato Tan on his way to the tournament room. For those younger generation who don't know him, let me tell you,he has contribute so much to chess no one could have imagine... (Please read "Never say I assume")
From left, Dato Sieh, Dato Tan and IA Hamid on discussion. Outside the tournament room, there are few sales booth and guess what, PS Global Marketing from Penang is there also!

Parents waiting patiently outside tournament room in picnic style
This cute little girl caught my eye... no, not only me. it's everybodys'eyes
Let me introduce you the up coming chess player - Caissa Wong ("Caissa" means the god of chess!) In round 1, Penang Senior team and U16B team taking full points(4); However, the U16G teams losing 1-3 to Kids 4 Chess Alpha with Janet Tan the only one winner. Round 2 saw Penang tie with Kids 4 Chess Lambda while Penang U16B obtain a hard fought win against second seedTerengganu Juniors; mean while Penang U16G team came back with a 3.5 score in second round.
At the final round of the day(round 3), Penang senior team scored 2.5-1.5 against Persatuan Catur Putrajaya while the Penang U16G team was badly beaten by Chung Ling Junior A with only Chen Nee holding a draw against Dennis Lim. The excitment of the day was Penang U16B team where they make early encounter with the top seed Selangor Generasi-8. However, the team lost 1.5-2.5 with Evan played dubiously while Gavin blundered a Queen to a simple tactic(decoy)... well, it happens.
First round encounter, UiTM Chess Club 2 vs Penang State Team. Result 0-4
Board 1 Janet is the only winner for U16G team in first round 1
My ex-team mate(Perlis Team, now named PCPPs). We are a team about 8 or 9 years ago! And they are still going strong!
Eh? My goodness... come a long way to play with you again?! (Penang Free School against Chung Ling Junior B : 3-1, round 2)
Rouns 3 saw 18-months Caissa Wong in action!
Chen Nee is a patient girl. She played patiently to hold a draw on round 3
