The Champion with 17/21 OFA A team represented by (from right) : Peter Lim, Ronnie Lim and Chuah Heng Meng! Before the tournament starts, I was thinking that the chess league this year is at stake of being won by outstation team. I am glad the OFA A team give a stunning performance and retain the title for Penang. Nevertheless, I predict that the outstation team will be back next year and try to wrest PCL team champion from Penang! I am also very happy that PCL 2008, for the first time, had Grandmaster participation! It made history of Penang Chess League which has been 18 years now. And I take my chance to take photo with the GM:

Before becoming a coach in 2006, he was active in competitive chess for many years. His "retirement" from competitive chess has not stopped him from investing his time and efforts in the development of chess in Penang, especially in guiding young players to become a successful chess players. |
