Usually 1st leg of Penang Age Group is held at Penang; but this year, PCA started it at Bukit Mertajam first. The venue is SLC Auto Academy at Sungai Rambai, Bukit Mertajam. SLC Auto Academy provide services and repairs on vehicles; and more importantly, SLC Auto Academy produces professional car foremen, technicians every year!

The pairing of this tournament is categorised into 4 categories - 1) U16B, U16G, U10B and U10G with 20 mins for the first 3 round and 25 minutes for the last 4 rounds. The time control changed is due to the bus carrying over 30+ participants can't locate the venue and spend extra hour on the road before they could finally made it. Phew...

In the U10B category, the favourite is Ang Zhe Yuan(who made it to MSSPP team 2008). However, he will face strong challenge from Ooi Zhi Yang(2007 U9 Champion), Tang Wei Kit(2008 NAG #6), Teoh Ern Sheng(2008 2nd leg of PCA U9 champion) and top seed William Fong.

U10G category will see 3 fighting for the top spot : Kelly Lim, Keok Kai Wen and Chuah Yi Ning.

U16B favourite is Keok Kai En but as usual(U16B is almost always tough), he has to raise his play to finish top. Among the challenger is top seed Wong Hao, Patrick Lim and Kee Zijia.

U16G again has 3 strong girls fighting for top : Ong Choon Yong, Hoh Tjin Li and Hoh Tjin Hui.
