bcc.jpgThere are two groups of play: Open category for all players, and Challenger category for players rated below 2100 or unrated (ratings based on FIDE or Thai ELO ratings - other national ratings will be validated by the organizer). When registering, players must indicate in which group they wish to play.

FIDE (International Chess Federation) rules and regulations shall apply. Results will be sent for FIDE rating calculations. Both groups will be played using the Swiss System, with 9 rounds for BCC Open, and 7 rounds for BCC Challenger. For the pairings, a Swiss Manager program will be used.

Tournament Regulations

1. This is an individual tournament, open to all players.

2. There are two groups of play: Open category for all players, and Challenger category for players rated below 2100 or unrated (ratings based on FIDE or Thai ELO ratings - other national ratings will be validated by the organizer). 5. The matches shall be conducted according to the schedule, which will be made known to the respective players before the start of the tournament.

6. Each player is accorded with a time control of 90 minutes plus 30 seconds per move.

7. Five minutes before the games start, the Chief Arbiter shall make the announcement accordingly. If any player is not present within an hour after the game is started, he shall lose by default.

8. All mobile phones in the playing hall shall be switched off while games are in progress.

9. Officials and players should be smartly attired at all times while in the playing hall.

Prizes. In BCC Open, the prizes are for 1-6 ranks and 3 best Thais. 1st prize will be approximately US$ 1500. There are certificates for Best Lady and Best Juniors. BCC Challenger has prizes for 1-5, and certificates for 2 Best Juniors. Prize values will be announced after the first round.

In the event of dispute the Chief Arbiters decision is final.

Entrance Fees. BCC Open: Baht 2800 (Baht 2500 if registered before 10.3.08). Bangkok Chess Club and Thailand Chess Association members, Baht 1,500 (Baht 1,200 if registered before 10.3.08).

BCC Challenger: 800 Baht (Baht 600 if registered before 10.3.08). All tournament fees must be paid before the start of the first round.

Conditions for Titled Players. Tournament fees are waived for GMs, WGMs, IMs and WIMs (according official FIDE January 2008 rating list). First 6 GMs to register will get complimentary accommodation (room & breakfast in twin sharing for 6 nights from Monday until Sunday).
