After winning the Grand Prix final leg, Tan Khai Boon continued his form and winning the Grand Prix Final ahead of Tan Eu Hong, Anthony Liong, Chuah Heng Meng and Do Thi Thuong

Grand Prix Open Final

Grand Prix open final on 9 Dec are open for 20 players who scored enough grand prix points(from 2 out of 3 grand prix preliminary rounds). Loo Swee Leong and P'ng Ren Chi did not turn up and are replaced by Hoh Tjin Li and Wong Teik Choy. The seeding are based on grand prix point gathered and the format of play is 7 round swiss with time control 30 minutes each.

Table 9 Keok Kai En vs Hoh Tjin Hui(1-0). Hoh Tjin Hui is one of the youngest player who made it to final. At age of 10, she manages to score 50% in a very tough tournament! Powerful!

Though only finished no.16, Lee Chan Tung is the only Malaysian not belong to Penang...

The only foriegner finished top 10 -- 9th placing Do Thi Thuong from Vietnam.

Thong Yung Chen played very well to finish runner up. He has establish himself as a top U18 player in Penang and hopefully, he will continue to challenge the seniors.

PS Lim is a chess enthusiast. He is also a successful coach in Penang, having produced two U12 Penang champions for two consecutive years in 2006 and 2007.

Before becoming a coach in 2006, he was active in competitive chess for many years. His "retirement" from competitive chess has not stopped him from investing his time and efforts in the development of chess in Penang, especially in guiding young players to become successful chess players.
