Chuah Heng Meng started as fifth seed, and went through this tough event without a single defeat. Another young, rising star of penang Evan Timothy, share the same triumph with 6/7. However, Chuah wins this event on tiebreak points.
Chuah Heng Meng has been Penang state player for 30 years and he is still going strong.
Evan Timothy Capel is the star of Penang. His skills and techniques has been improving fast and has overtake lots of strong players.
Grand Prix Open, Frist Leg
Due to lack of chess event during this period in Penang, Penang Chess Association takes the initaitive to move the chess events by organising 4 Grand Prix in 4 consecutive Sunday. It is obviously very welcome by Penang players as the limited 70 places has been filled up in 2 days!!
