An very interesting picture impression on U9 selection :

photo17.jpg

Tan Jia Yun at PS Global Marketing corner. She create upset in round one by beating William Lee. Her play is high standard but need to improve on finishing.

photo18.jpg

Kelly Lim's patient, carefulness and fighting spirit has bring her lots of success inculding beating top seed, William Lee and Tan Jia Yun. Having these value is definitely a good start, if she improves "technically"; she will be the chess princess!

photo24.jpg

Tang Wei Kit(left) and Teoh Ern Sheng(right) is action(round 2). Back gorund is Grand Prix 3 under way.
Teoh Ern Sheng played well thru out the tournament except the critical round 6 where he blunder a queen at move 7. Queen is dead and hope is dashed - a painful lesson but looking at the good side, this could be a good lesson for life!

photo19.jpg

Mr. Khor Bean Hwa came in to be Arbiter in the second half of the tournament.

photo23.jpg

Tang Wei Kit's family doing homework while Wei Kit(not in photo) cracking his head(round 5). Not a minute is waste for this family.

photo20.jpg

Parents waiting for good news patiently. With their support, children's chess improvement is only possible.

photo21.jpg

The start of final round. It is a good trend(and also surprises) that 2 girls are on top 1 and 2 table --> Kelly Lim vs Ooi Zhi Yang(0-1) and Ang Zhen Yuan vs Chuah Yi Ning(0-1)

photo22.jpg

Chuah Yi Ning's parents talking/discussing with Pn. Hong(PCA exco) and Ooi Kiam Boon(Ex PCA exco) while waiting for final round result

photo25.jpg

From left, Mr. Khor Bean Hwa, Mr. Khaw Eng Yeam and Pn. Hong Siang Ean nomiating 2 places for MSSPP team(top 3 is automatically selected). And they pick 4th placing Ang Zhen Yuan and 5th placing Tang Wei Kit

photo26.jpg

How does it feel when you have 4/4 in first half and only 0.5/3 for the second half? Ang Zhen Yuan face illustrate it perfectly

photo27.jpg

Chuah Yi Ning is the best U9 girl in Penang. Her patient and very careful play will certainly came handy during Asean Youth Team championship which are 1 hour time control(each)

photo28.jpg

Ooi Zhi Yang who obtained best U9 Boy is all smile after a day of tough games(and hungry too)!
