Grand Prix, Frist Leg 

Grand Prix 1 (aka First Leg) is organised by Penang Chess Association with the objective of gathering chess playing children together for a simple and fun chess tournament after their stressful final school examination. The tournament is free for PCA member but non member will be charge RM5 and it is limited to 70 players only.

Apparently, chess enthusiam in Penang welcome this half-day tournament very much as 70 places are filled-in in 5 days!(and many miss it!) In addition, 2 champions from KL are in the list!

This exciting, fighting chess is won by Yeoh Li Tian with a perfect score of 7/7. On the route to Champ, he beat top seed and Penang U14 top player, Gavin Fong and MSSPP 2007 Champion, Wong Hao! This kid is amazing!!

PS Lim is a chess enthusiast. He is also a successful coach in Penang, having produced two U12 Penang champions for two consecutive years in 2006 and 2007.

Before becoming a coach in 2006, he was active in competitive chess for many years. His "retirement" from competitive chess has not stopped him from investing his time and efforts in the development of chess in Penang, especially in guiding young players to become successful chess players.
